How to make spiced tea eggs
- The first step is to wash the eggs, put them in a pot of cold water, bring to a boil over high heat, turn off the heat, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Weigh all the seasonings in a bowl and add water.
- Weigh the spices and soak them in water for a while. The spices are not very clean now. Weigh the tea leaves. It should be emphasized that you must use black tea. Pu’er tea is also OK. Don’t use West Lake Longjing or something like that. It will definitely taste weird.
- Pour the seasonings and spices into the pot, boil over high heat first, then simmer over low heat for 3 minutes. Tea leaves can be added later to allow the flavors of the spices and tea leaves to penetrate the water first.
- Put the cooked eggs with cracks on the surface into the pot. Crack the surface of the eggs evenly, otherwise it will be difficult for the flavor to absorb. Continue to boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
- In this way, the five-spice tea eggs are ready. The five-spice tea eggs are not made with five-spice powder, but eggs made with several kinds of fragrant spice teas. It is best to stew them for 12 to 20 hours before eating.
